Protecting Your Property in Winter

As we are now approaching the cold winter months, we would like to remind you that at this time of year, empty properties are at risk of damage from burst pipes and so on.

While the easiest option to prevent leaks is to drain down the plumbing system and turn off the water. However, by far the best option when trying to achieve a buyer is to keep the central heating on low. This stops freezing pipes in the first instance, but also means that when we show your property, it feels more inviting as it’s not colder than the outside! Obviously, we want people to feel comfortable and appreciate how homely the property is, so by keeping the property ‘warm’ people will find it more welcoming.

While temperatures are mild now, please make sure you attend to your empty property before the temperature suddenly drops and we have a flood situation to deal with. Draining down a property will, in most cases lead to a plumbing bill, whereas keeping the heating on about 10-15° will probably be cheaper!

Please don’t disregard this if you have a sale going through as it could mean a stall to your sale or even a fall through should something go wrong.
